Ironbark Farm Stay

Frequently asked questions

How far is Ironbark Farm Stay from Perth?

We are approximately 135 kms from Perth or approximately 115 minute drive.  We are ideally located being the gateway to the Western Australian Wheatbelt region, an ideal location to explore our region from here.

Do you provide meals or where can I go to dine out?

We have available upon request, a standard continental breakfast for an additional cost.  We do not provide meals, every cabin has a barbeque and microwave to prepare your own meals. Being centrally located to many close regional towns, it is an easy drive to pop into Northam, Cunderdin or York to explore dining out options in these towns. Why not visit Ettamogah Pub in Cunderdin - a quirky and photogenic visit with great food!

Where can I shop for food and when are the shops open?

We have a small shop in Meckering, 5 mins away, open during the week only. Fuel and food is also available at the Meckering Roadhouse.

Northam, 20 mins away, offers Coles, Woolworths  Aldi, Spud Shed and many other shops, including a butcher and many bottle shops, cafes, restaurants, banks and fuel stations. The supermarkets are open on Weekends.

You will find IGA Supermarket in Cunderdin, 15 mins away, also fuel and butcher shop.

York, 30 mins away, also has an IGA, Fuel and many cafes and is well worth a visit to the many little shops if you love looking for anything unique.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are most welcome.  We have fold out beds available for 2 or our cabins.  Our York Gum cabin will sleep 2 adults and one child.  Our Salmon Gum cabin will sleep 2 adults and 2 children.  There is plenty room around the cabins and on the farm to explore.  Children must be supervised at all times and not left unattended.

Do you provide linen and towels?

Yes we do, however, we do not offer housekeeping during your stay.

Can I use my mobile phone, and do you have WIFI?

We have excellent coverage via the Telstra mobile network.  We do not have WIFI available.

Do you offer discounts for longer stays?

Yes we do. Please ask for our weekly rates.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you pay the first night's reservation at the time of your booking as a deposit.  This deposit is to confirm your booking, with the balance paid at check in.  (Bookings within 7 days - full payment required)  If you need to cancel, we can refund you less our cancellation and administration fees.  If you cancel your booking within 24 hours, your deposit will be forfeited.  If you are ballooning in Northam and have advised us at the time of your booking, and your flight is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, we can offer you a free cancellation and hold your credit until you reschedule your balloon flight, or offer you a full refund.

What might I see happening on the farm?

Farming is seasonal, so depending on what time of year you visit, you may get to see the crops being sown during late April through until mid June. November and December you may see the crops being harvested.  We run sheep, so there may be times where we are rounding up the sheep to bring them up to the shearing shed for shearing.  Our cattle may also be in the nearby paddock, they are great to watch and observe as they graze, with some cows with calves.  Many other farming activities are done during the year, so there is usually something to see.

What is the weather like on the farm?

We recommend you bring some warm clothes with you during the winter months, as it can get a little colder than Perth.  Especially when you are outdoors.

Make sure you bring sun protection during the warmer months too, especially a hat.

Can I bring my dog to stay too?

No, we do not allow pets to visit.

Can I light a fire?

Yes you can, but only within the unrestricted burning period which is typically April to September, but please check with us first to ensure proper regulations are followed.

We have a designated fire pit area with wood supplied, which you are most welcome to use, bring some marshmallows and toast them on the fire while you watch the sun go down.

How can I pay for my booking?

Payment by credit card over the phone is preferred (2%surcharge applies)

The option to pay by bank transfer is also available

Full payment for your stay is required on arrival
